Last week, I got only a little bit done, which was rather disappointing. This week however, I really did get a whole lot done. I made more objects and different aspects of the home and started to put them together. This is my work as of now.
I made my walls more on the straighter side, which made it look a bit bland, so I'm currently working on adding bevels and extracting the bottom of one of the duplicates, eventually replacing all the walls. My only issue with this is organization and the new way of UVing things. I have more space to move things around, but I'm not sure exactly what to do, other than trying to UV like normal.
also, There's a lot of objects here and it's looking messing in my outliner. I need to work on trying to get more organized. I also have to work on finishing designing and UVing the new walls, then some other UVing. Once that's done, I'll model the rest of the house. I'm planning to have everything modeled before I come back to class after the thanksgiving break.

Game Scene week 1
For this week, I worked on blocking out my reference image that I'm working on recreating.
I'm now tasked to create a building through planer modeling. My blocked out reference image looks like this:

However, after this, I only created a single tile of the wall containing a window of it. I only had that through making a plane and using the extrude tool to create a window. I also managed to UV it. Luckily for this assignment, I only need to technically model a few things, since the rest would be duplicates.
I'm still really slow with working with Maya, but I hope that next week, I'll pick up the pase.
This is my work so far. I can put them together side by side and continue to copy and paste, then I can be able to form a bigger wall!

Living Room Final Week
After five weeks of working on this assignment, I finally finished it to the best of my abilities.
the whole process is starting to become almost second nature for me. I've gotten much better with modeling and also adding textures to things. That being said, I still feel that my lowest point is uving objects. I've been having lots of troubles with uving things like both entertainment centers and the sofa. Beveling things does also make it harder to uv successfully.
I was able to make things that I struggled a lot with in the past more easily now. It didn't take me much to model the sofa, unlike the sofa and table assignment.
I found out that I don't need to work on every single angle of an object. If a part of an object isn't gonna be seen at all, then there's no need to have it in the scene. It'll just mean extra work; mixing that with Uving and that'll trigger a lot of underlying issues. Faces that I don't need can be easily deleted or left untextured.
I got to learn so much more about maya thanks to this assignment, and I hope to increase my skills as I go on. I'll try that by practicing modeling new things, while really trying to understand uving and how to effectively use it.
Living room Week 4
For this week, I unfortunately didn’t make too much progress, but I feel that I’m close to being finished. I changed up a mustard bottle from my grocery assignment into an orange soda bottle with some soda in it. I also added colors onto the lamp, while also making it into a light source.
Also, with my tv, I learned how to make it shine. It’s all about duplicating the screen and manipulating it to be able to shine bright, while also having the original screen still visible. I felt really proud about this, but one of the most notable changes is the second entertainment center. I completely changed it because the old one was made off of the top of my head, when I was still learning about the extrude tool.
I got a reference of an entertainment center that I used to create my own. I added some of my own ideas into it, one being to have it not have any mini walls inside of it.
Despite all of this, I still have more to do before I'm finished. I need to texture the sofa, entertainment center shelf, and the picture frames. I have my pizza box textured but I think I lost it somewhere. I’d need to find it. But It’s almost finished and I’m getting more excited to see the finished product.

Living Room Week 3
I was able to get a lot of work done, but I had a large amount of problems I had to face. So far, here is my work as of now:
At home, I had textured a number of things: the floor, table, carpet, entertainment center, and TV. I also made the different walls its own object and was able to change them individually, while also making all of them the same color.
I added some things from my past assignment, that being the grocery assignment. I’m planning on filling the entire shelf with smores pop tarts. I’m only doing that because it’s funny to see someone has that much on display.
When starting to do the work in class, I wasn’t able to get my textures in view for some odd reason. I’m worried that all of my work was deleted. I’m not entirely sure right now, but I ‘m gonna plan this week to UV more things while also trying to finalize things.

CAGD 230 Living Room week 2
Currently, i'm now reaching the halfway mark on this assignment. Right now, I'm still modeling things, but I'm becoming a whole lot better when it comes to modeling. I got to work on making many low poly models of the couch, TV, entertainment center, and others, all thanks to extruding objects.
Here's my current process as of Thursday October 17th, 2019 (prior to work time in class)

My main problem so far is not knowing what else I should add to fill up space. I can think of small things like lamps and food at least, but the empty spot on the wall is a little too empty. Maybe I should add photos on it, but I'm not too sure.
I used two YouTube videos to help me with making the sofa and the tv. Surprisingly, making the TV was by far the most easiest thing i have ever done in this class so far. I was truly amazed by how quick and easy I made it.
As for the poly count, I'm only at a fraction of the limit. I'm able to do that by beveling objects, extruding, and completely avoiding the 3 hotkey that curves things because that makes the poly count skyrocket. Hopefully, I'll keep this up and not make it to 50,000. I know I can.
For this day and the rest of the week, I plan to finish adding things and then UV some objects. I feel I should focus on the main parts of the living room, then work on small things once i'm done. I'm very confident that I can manage to UV most of it by next Tuesday.

CAGD 230 living room Week 1

I'm working on the layout based off of the first one, but I'm planning to change the sofa into something of my own, while adding the shelf I made from my grocery assignment into it. I'm not sure what kind of entertainment system I'll make but I might stick with the type that's shown in concept art 2.
Object list (so far):
1. sofa/couch
2. entertainment center
3. rug
4. table
5. shelf, two doors
I plan on adding a lamp, more areas to store things, and windows or frames
